WebApr 6, 2010 · The two refrigerants are not compatible. R134a molecules are much smaller than R12 molecules, and R12 rubber compressor seals will be damaged by R134a. The result will be a damaged air conditioning system and a mess you do not want to have to pay for and clean up. Also, make sure that the a/c technician is certified to work with R12.
