Animated by the spirit of powerful communal and individual ancestors, masquerades do more than simply visit their towns and communities: they are social and political forces with great potential and power. My work engages history and memory, ethnography and performance, gender and kinship through written, embodied, and digital media. I conducted research for my dissertation in Nigeria, where I served as a Fulbright-Hays scholars.
